The Cornflakes Theology Movement

An interface between the Church and Secular Society.

How do we sing the Lord's song in a strange land? (Psalm 137 )
If we think of Theology as a disease, the Church has, over many generations administered immunisation. The result has been that the average church member is unable to ask basic questions. ( Mary Mason was exceptional. )
Radicalisation means a return to the roots of the Christian faith.
We need to clear away the surface dross in order to reveal the 'pearl of great price'.

Question Time

1. Headline news Easter has been cancelled ; they have found the body.
In what way would this affect our understanding of Resurrection?
2 There were no 'Shepherds abiding in the fields', there were no 'wise men from the east', there was no 'babe in the manger'.
In what way does this affect our understanding of Incarnation?
3. Jesus did not say "I am the way, the truth and the life; no one comes to the father except through me".
How does this affect our approach to interfaith dialogue?
These are examples of the questions posed by Mary Mason and they indicate the basic principles of the CTM. (Cornflakes Theology Movement. )
Practical considerations.
Short courses to be held periodically in user friendly premises (not church buildings - possibly local pubs or village halls).
Teachers to be recruited from local retired clergy and lay people who have a vocation to explore radical questions in Christian doctrine.
People to be invited to attend through participation in Weddings, Baptisms and Funerals. Courses to be advertised in church notices, e-mails and local press.
Cards to be issued periodically which advertise dates, venues, speakers and topics.
The U3A and other Adult Education organisations to be informed.
